Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning are still on the outside of the playoff picture but have the ability to get there with a strong finish to the season. This squad has been a tale of two teams at home and on the road. The Lightning are among the top home teams in the league so far with an 18-9-6 record but have been absolutely terrible on the road with a 10-19-6 record.
If the Lightning hope to sneak into the playoffs they need to pick up a couple of key road wins and maintain their great success at home.
The Lightning have one of the top one-two punches in the league, led by Right Wing Martin St. Louis (24 goals and 57 assists!) and Steven Stamkos (42 goals and 38 assists) and if they can make it into a playoff series that type of talent can keep them in any game against any team.
The Lightning have been right at their expectations from most for the year but have the opportunity to surpass what everyone thought they’d do and sneak into the playoffs this year.
There is definitely still an opportunity to make the jump this year and it isn’t time to start talking about draft position just yet. Andero Nittymaki has been their best goaltender by the numbers so far but has been fairly inconsistent.
They need some reliability from their goalies if they are to go anywhere in the regular season or for that matter the playoffs. They are just 2-7-1 in their last 10 games and need more than that if they hope to get back into the picture.
