St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues are currently tied with the Dallas Stars for eleventh spot in the NHL Western conference.  Both teams have a point score of 73, and are looking to overtake Detroit for the eighth spot in the West.  The chances of the St. Louis Blues beating out the Minnesota Wild and Calgary Flames don’t look very good, especially with only a few games left in the regular season.

The Blues have a record of 32-28-9 and they are coming off of a three game losing streak.  With playoff hopes in mind, this is not a good way to end the regular season.  They play the New York Rangers this Thursday and hope to break their losing streak and vault themselves back into playoff contention.

With their new interim coach, Davis Payne, they have made some recent improvements, but still have the worst at home record with 12-17-5.  They have had some big problems with offensive and defensive chemistry and have just not been able to make any significant runs this year.

The St. Louis Blues had some high expectations this year, and are one of the youngest teams in the league.  With players like T.J. Oshie, Backes, Erik Johnson, the Blues were looking to repeat their miracle playoff run of last year, but have fallen short up until now.  Judging from their push last season, however, there is still some time to turn that around.

In all reality, chances are they will be out of the post season and have to hope to get a good draft pick before the 2010-11 year.
