Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild are currently sitting in tenth position in the NHL Western Conference. Right now they have 34 wins, 29 losses, and 6 ties.

Lately they’ve been playing pretty well, going on a three game winning streak. Overall they’ve been playing well at home, but they’ve been struggling on the road. With only a few weeks left of regular season play they need to pick up their road play.

The Wild have played a bit better than expected throughout the course of the season but with the potential that they have right now with Chuck Kobasew, Andrew Ebbett, and Antti Miettinen, they still have expectations to fill before the playoffs come.

To get into the playoffs they need to pass Calgary Flames and the Detroit Red Wings. The Minnesota Wild currently have 74 points and the Flames and Red Wings are sitting with 79 and 80 points respectively, so they definitely still have a shot at the playoffs.

If they can continue to play well at home and play a bit better on the road they can pass the Flames and Red Wings and really have a shot to make something out of this season. However, with a 3-2-2 record since play resumed after the Olympics, they have to play better than .500 hockey to make any difference these last few weeks.  If they fail to do that, then their playoff chances would disappear.

The Minnesota Wild cannot afford to drop any spots in the conference standings if they want to make that playoff run.   They just signed on former Stampede captain Nate Prosser to a contract and are looking to make some changes to improve their lineup.
