Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars are currently battling it out with the bottom of the NHL Western Conference.  They have a record of 30 wins and 26 losses and are coming off of a one-game win streak that they hope to gain some momentum off of.

The Stars have been up and down all season, but feel they have what it takes to go on a roll and make it into the playoffs in the 2010 post season.  They have fallen short of expectations but are looking to improve.  They have some good players in Marty Turco, Brad Richards, and Mike Ribeiro.

The Dallas Stars goalie, Marty Turco, talked a little bit about the team’s chances for making the playoffs this year.  He talked about how the team has failed to go on any notable winning streaks and that they have just played mediocre all year.  Coming off a big win against the Washington Capitals, however, the Stars seemed to have proven that they can play well and beat good teams.

The fact of the matter is that Dallas currently sits at twelfth in the west with only 73 points.  The current eighth spot in the Western Conference is the Detroit Red Wings who have 80 points and 34 wins.  While they are currently only four games ahead of Dallas, the Stars will essentially have to go on a 12-5-0 run for the rest of the season in order to make it to the playoffs.

Look for the Stars to make a push in these final weeks, but they need a miracle to be able to pull those statistics off.  The more likely prediction is that they will miss the playoffs and hope for a good lottery pick in the draft this year.
