Carolina Hurricanes
Usually the further you go down the list it gets more and more painful to examine the team. Fortunately the Carolina Hurricanes have been great the last 10 games and look to finish the season with respect, even if the playoffs are too far of a stretch. After putting up a 7-2-1 record over the last ten games it feels like the Hurricane have some of the tools they need to be successful, they just haven’t been able to put it together for an extended period of time. The fact that they have had the tools from the beginning was obvious though.
They were predicted to make the playoffs by most before the season, but due to injury and inconsistency they currently sit second to last in the Eastern Conference. Goaltender Cam Ward, who is once again injured, has had a few weird injuries through the course of the season and has struggled to find his place and consistency for the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes have struggled in nearly every category throughout the season. This ranges from their away record to their inability to convert on their own powerplays to their struggles in keeping their opponents from scoring during powerplay opportunities.
The best things that could happen for the Hurricanes is to have a good finish to the year, ruin some playoff hopes for some other teams and go into next season remembering their strong finish. This could give them hopes that without making too many changes they could again find themselves with playoff aspirations.
