Anaheim Ducks
The Anaheim Duck currently have a record of 32 wins and 29 losses and are sitting in the 13th spot in the Western Conference. They came into the season looking like they might be able to reach the playoffs but have since fallen down the rankings.
The two teams ahead of them in the standings, the Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues, are only one point ahead of Anaheim and are tied at 73 while Anaheim has 72 points. All of these teams are very close together and are all looking to take over the Detroit Red Wings who currently hold the eighth spot.
The Ducks are currently on a two game win streak, but it doesn’t look like it will be enough to take them into the post season. Coach Carlyle has talked about the team’s focus to win one game at a time, and it seems to be working for right now. If they can go on a 6 or 7 game win streak, they might still have a chance at getting the last playoff seed in the west.
Other problems that the Anaheim Ducks have run into lately are that Ryan Getzlaf injured his ankle and Teemu Selanne got a shoulder sprain. Without those two key players, the Ducks will have to rely on Lubomir Visnovsky, Corey Perry, and Bobby Ryan to help extend their current win streak. Bobby Ryan has been phenomenal as of late with over 10 goals and 20 assists in the last 16 home games.
To sum up, the Ducks probably will not make it into the playoffs this season. They have some good players, and some good potential, so we will have to see how the draft turns out and see if they can pull it together for next year.
