Tampa Bay Lightning visit Florida Panthers in battle of Florida
Friday will see both of Florida’s NHL hockey teams square off when the Tampa Bay Lightning travel to Miami to take on the Florida Panthers.

Tampa Bay has been one of the surprise teams this year in the NHL as they are currently tied for first place in the Southeast Division with the Washington Capitals. Using a combination of good special teams and timely goal scoring has seen the Lightning surpass expectations during the first half of the season.
The Florida Panthers are a completely different story as they are currently in last place of the Southeast Division. Behind a strong penalty kill unit and the 10th best goals against average per game, the Florida Panthers find themselves eight points out of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. A lack of scoring has really hurt the Panthers this season as they are ranked 17th overall with just 2.7 goals per game.
While the Panthers struggle to be one of the better offensive teams in the league, Florida has been playing better as of late winning three of their last four games to help them get back into the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Tampa Bay on the other hand has been struggling losing four of their last six games. If the Lightning hope to hold off the Washington Capitals for the division race, Tampa will have to get things turn around quickly. This Friday is a great time for the Lightning to do just that when they face the less talented Panthers.
