Detroit Red Wings visit Chicago Blackhawks on Friday

Two Central Division rivals, and members of the “original six,” will clash this Friday night when the Detroit Red Wings travel to Chicago to take on the Blackhawks. Currently, the Red Wings lead the competitive Central Division by 5pts over Nashville, but the Chicago Blackhawks are creeping back into the picture with 35pts which is just 6 behind the Red Wings.

The Red Wings have struggled recently losing 4 of their last 6, including a 5-0 pasting at the hands of the Los Angeles Kings at home Monday night. The Wings will certainly be looking to right the ship on Friday so they do not continue to lose ground in the Central Division race.

Much like the Red Wings, the Chicago Blackhawks are struggling a little bit as well. Having dropped 3 of their last 5 games, and 2 in a row, the Hawks will try to earn as many valuable division points as possible in this match up. Having already played 3 more games than the Red Wings means the Blackhawks will have to really focus to earn the two points that a win would give them in this game.

Both teams are high scoring, fast skating squads which should make for an exciting hockey game. The Red Wings have dropped to 3rd in the league with a 3.3 goals per game average, while the Blackhawks sit at 8th place overall averaging 3.1 goals per contest. With these two balanced offensive attacks the goals should come in bunches this Friday night.
