Philadelphia Flyers @ Chicago Blackhawks: Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 Preview

The Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks will face off in Game 3 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday, June 2nd. Philadelphia will be playing at home. They need any advantage they can get at this point.

The Flyers and Blackhawks both played well in Game 2. In Game 1, both teams were much better defensively, but Chicago was still too much for Philadelphia. Thanks mostly to excellent play from goalie Antti Niemi; Chicago won Game 2 by a score of 2-1.

Philadelphia is in a must-win situation, going into Game 3. They have a chance at making the series 2-1, if they are able to figure out a way around Niemi. However, if Niemi plays like he did in Game 2, chances are good that the Flyers will be down 3-0 and on the brink of elimination. For the Flyers in Game 2, Simon Gagne was the one bright spot, as he scored their lone goal.

Philadelphia is not done, while it is in a bad situation. It is unpredictability, if there is one thing that the Stanley Cup Finals are known for. The Flyers could not have asked much more of goalie Michael Leighton, as he only allowed two goals. In Game 3, however, their offense, including Danny Briere, has to step up. So far, in this series, there has been a high-scoring game and a defensive struggle. To tune in on Wednesday night is the only way to find out what Game 3 brings with it.
