NHL Draft 2010: Which Team Had Best Draft?

Los Angeles hosted the 2010 NHL Draft and they along with their neighbor down the 5 Freeway, Anaheim, had two of the best NHL Drafts. The Anaheim Ducks may have come across the best two way defensive player in the NHL Draft in their number 12 slot.

Cam Fowler was not expected to be available when the Ducks drafted and they gladly scooped up the offensive minded defenseman with the pick. Fowler will most likely join the Ducks other young defenseman, Luca Sbisa, who was acquired in the Chris Pronger trade last year. The two could be a great defensive pairing for years to come. The Ducks also drafted a great goal scorer and California native with their 29th pick of the first round, Emerson Etem.

The host team for the NHL Draft, the Los Angeles Kings, also had a strong draft. Derek Forbort is a gritty defenseman that isn’t afraid of working hard to stifle scoring threats in his own end. Forbort will give the Los Angeles Kings a solid stay at home defenseman that fears no man.

Another potential winner in the NHL Draft is the Florida Panthers. Erik Gudbranson is a perfect pick for Florida as not only a scoring threat but he is a young player who has the ability to take the reins of this young team. Put Gudbranson together with 19th pick Nick Bjugstad and 33rd pick John McFarland and Florida could have put together their offensive core for years to come.
