3D Network Hockey Game Launched By MSG
On March 24, 2010 from the Madison Square Garden, the NHL partnered with MSG to deliver the Islanders/Rangers game in 3D. It was the first 3D network hockey game to have ever been produced,. MSG is one of the industry leaders in delivering up-to-date and current technology for viewers. They first did this by producing Knicks and Rangers home games in HD.
At the Madison Square Garden Theater, the 3D broadcast started with a pre-game viewing party. The telecast was shown on few providers as well as on Cablevision channel. The seats were filled before the screening took place and the tickets to the event cost around twenty bucks.
The use of technology that captures video in 3D imagery was the way that the game was captured. These cameras were produced by 3ality Digital and used pixel enhancing software. A lot of work was done by them behind the scenes and it paid off.
The president of MSG media, Michael Bair, talked about MSG extending into 3-D TV makes sense as they always have been a leader in new technology. This remodeling venture looks to completely re-outfit the arena from top to bottom and would help more to the performing athletes and trainers.
3D telecasting has the potential to completely change the way we watch sports. High Definition Television technology is improving and it makes sense that it would be time for another jump as it did just a few years back. When it comes to 3D technology there are still a few bugs to be worked out, but there is a good chance that it will soon be the standard viewing method for sports fanatics everywhere.
