NHL Preview – New Jersey Devils vs. New York Rangers
The National Hockey League is full of great rivalries, but one can argue that the feud between the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers might be the most intense. The two teams have never even traded with each other. The teams will face off once again in a regular season game on Thursday.
The Hudson River Rivalry began when the Devils moved in from Colorado. They played each other for the first time on October 5, 1982. Since then the teams have played each other a total of 205 times, with the record standing at 94-84-27 for the Devils.
At one point in their storied past, the Devils went on a four-year winning streak that lasted from February 17, 1997 thru March 31, 2001. In 23 regular season games against the Rangers, the Devils finished 15-0-8.
New Jersey also has the largest margin of victory over New York, with a win on March 19, 2000, when they beat them 9-1.
In the 2009-2010 hockey previews, the Devils lead by one game, with a record of 3-2. They met for the first time this season on October 5, 2009, with a New York Rangers victory of 3 to 2. The Cross-River Rivals met for the last time on March 10, 2010 with the Devils pulling out the win, with a score of 6 to 3.
Can the Rangers even the score with a win on March 25, 2010 or will the Devils make it 4-2 for the season.
